Comments: hi my name is brian and I'm trying get established with any other pontiac owners out there. I could really use some information as to where I could get some performance parts for my 79 grand am. so far no one has been able to help me out, I figured i'd try and talk to people who have grand am 's I picked up this car a month ago and it needed some work. it has the original 301 v8 w/ the factory 4-speed standard, with 120 thousand original miles. everything was in good shape except for the frame rails under the trunk, of course, I have welded a new ass-end under it out of another 78' grand am and it came out nice, and I had to change the rear main seals, and the clutch, did a little brake work, the tranny had a few small problems I took it out and refered to a tranny specialist and he had t-10 tranny, I put that in it, and now I'm getting ready to do the body work and paint it on my spare time, How ever I am at the same time trying to find performance parts for the car and so far I havn't had any luck at all, I really would like to find headers for it mainly, I had to retire the quadra-junk 4-barrel, and replace it with a 650cfm,edelbrock, and I am going to get the accel ignition set for it, and I might be interested in an intake and cams also but there apears to be no such thing, are there any owners out there that could send me a hint? I dont really want to get rid of this motor, but uf there are no parts out there that I have seen to wake up my black beauty, from her long hibernation. would anyone be interested in a 301, to make their car origanal,? if so would it be a good idea to just take it out sell it and get a 326, or a 350? I could use any input that anyone might have, thanx, brian,

Comments: I bought this grand am in 1999 from the orginal owner. It only had 50,000 miles on it. We finished restoration in May of 2002. Took 6 first place trophies, and 2 best of show's. One of these was at Ames Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio. We were also picked by High Performance Pontiac Mag. as editors choice, and appeared in the Feb. 2003 issue,plus on the cover, and the car is in their calander for Nov. When we first got the car family and friends teased me about it being big and ugly. Guess I had the last laugh after the great summer of 2002.

The only motor work done was a timeing chain.This motor is amazing,doesn't burn a drop of oil.I drive it back to Cape Breton every summer with a trailer{2400km drive.They just don't make cars like that anymore.A brand new V-8 fuel injected computer opperated advanced system is no better on gas than my basic carberated grand am.Cheap for parts easy to repair and reliable.Did tehcnoligy become a bad thing?

Comments: Last May I purchased a really nice '78 Grand Am from Az. The car was orignally purchased in Co. and sold shortly after to a woman in Az. who is the one I got it from. She moved here in Oct. 2001, drove it in the winter, got it stuck and blew the motor. Fortunately a freind of mine had a '79 Lemans w/301w4bbl which now resides in my GA. (I still have the orig. motor). It's Roman Red w/Silver bottom, auto on column/AC,cruise,AMradio w/8track tape &Honey Comb wheels. I put a set of 16" IROC wheels on it. It's really a nice cruiser. I only drove it a couple of months before I had to put it away for the winter. I can't wait till May to cruise again!

Comments: My car is a white '73 two door Grand Am with "Oxblood" red interior. It also has the original 455, automatic with 3.08 gears, dual exhausts, and Honeycomb wheels. I obtained a copy of the original factory invoice for the car from Pontiac showing it was originally sold to Prestige Pontiac in Van Nuys, CA. I purchased the car in San Jose, CA. in 1988 with 82,000 miles on it, used it as a driver until the mid-90s when I began the slow process of restoring it as money and time allowed. The engine was balanced, blueprinted, and beefed up with Pete McCarthy-ported 4X heads, Engle cam, Super Duty oil pump, and the usual array of other internal goodies, but I kept the appearance of the engine bone stock restored. Redoing the nose (as most Grand Am restorers can attest)was a major challenge, new upholstery and carpet sets were installed, and the original chrome tailpipes were recreated. The car has never been hit but the orignal paint is a little tired and the red, white, & blue accent stripes were removed by a previous owner so a complete repaint will finish her resurection. In the meantime, she's still an attention getter!

Comments: There is a 74 or 75 grand am sitting behing some old mans house that im thinking about buying. I would like to know what options are rare and if it would be worth buying. It has a 400 but i don't know if its a 2 or 4 barrel. one of my friends talked to him a long time ago and he said he is the only owner ever. Im not sure how many miles are on it but i don't imagine there are very many. i love these cars so it's kinda hard to pass it up for $500. it hasn't been started for years for all i know but all he said that was wrong with it mechanically was the starter, battery and wires to them. If i get it what all should i automatically replace befor i try to start it? im kind of leery about it since it's been sitting for so long. the only thing wrong with the exterior is some minor surface rust and the back bumper is completely rusted out. it is some shade of gold and has factory honeycomb wheels if that helps with the year. i don't know much about them yet but i do know for sure that it's a 73-75. I can send you a copy if wanted. Fun cars to drive even as they get older. I don't know the serial numbers, or have apicture now to give you. I also know a fellow with 2 1980's on the east coast both with sunroofs and one might be for sale. The 80 was a driver for many years and has lots of miles. It is loaded with most options available. Comments: I'm currently rebuilding my dad's car (1975 Grand Am) that he purchased in 1978. It has a 400 big block for an engine. He put a B&M Quick Silver shifter in it in '79 along with a B&M shift kit in the Turbo 400 transmition. It still has the original white paint on it but it is badly sun damaged, along with the interior. I plan on painting it either matallic charcoal or gun metal, either way, its going to be lots of work. The nosecone is completely busted out. We are going to put a new one on. I have never seen another '75 in person except on the internet. I look foward to making this car look awesome again. Pics will be coming soon.

The 7.4L V8 is very strong on the open raod, considering it is pulling a 4100 lb. car. It has run a 14.9 quarter mile, but I can't remember the speed. Comments: I have aquired a 1973 Grand Am. It has a 455 SD,TH400,373 POSI,Buckets w/ console.It has a very solid body it has been stored indoors for 10 + years. Also the front nose has damage. I don't really want to restore this car, but I want to know what it is worth and if anyone is interested in it. I know the driveline is very desirable. Any information would be appreciated.

Comments:  This car was originally bought by my dad,at Beaman Pontiac in Nashville,Tn... it has the 400ci w/ 400th,2bbl.Unfor- tunately the vinyl-top guy did a lousey job and before I got the car the top had rusted thru. I Need a Roof Assy !!!! and the usual rocker's,and the usual in- terior parts,I plan on a full mechanical rebuild and upgrade,also looking for a pr. of 400-4bbl.heads,and intake,I under stand that a few GrandAms w/ GTO motors were actually mfr'd,that true? I am trying to save the car,as "Code's Admin" is all over my butt to haul it off...I am not junking my car!!! I need help!!
